During this meeting, we focused our efforts on discussing and developing strategies to combat human trafficking, with a special emphasis on the protection of children and adolescents, who are unfortunately one of the most vulnerable groups to this crime.
Human trafficking is a problem that affects thousands of families in Colombia and worldwide. Victims, often minors, are subjected to conditions of exploitation and abuse. Faced with this situation, the ICBF is committed to leading the design of a comprehensive public policy aimed at preventing and eradicating this grave violation of human rights.
Key Proposals for the Protection of Youth
During the meeting, several strategies were discussed that, collectively, could make a significant difference in the fight against child trafficking. Some of the highlighted proposals included:
- Strengthening educational campaigns: It is essential to raise awareness in communities, schools, and families about the dangers of human trafficking. Through awareness campaigns, the goal is to empower children to recognize risky situations and know how to act in response to them.
- Improvement in reporting and protection systems: Creating accessible and safe reporting channels that allow victims and their families to quickly and effectively report trafficking situations. Furthermore, strengthening protection networks to ensure comprehensive care for rescued minors.
- Inter-institutional collaboration: Human trafficking is a complex phenomenon that requires the collaboration of various institutions, both nationally and internationally. In this regard, the creation of strategic alliances with international organizations and other state entities is proposed to ensure a coordinated and efficient response.
- Psychological and social support for victims: Children and adolescents who have been victims of trafficking require specialized care to help them overcome trauma. The ICBF has emphasized the importance of providing continuous psychological and social support to ensure their long-term reintegration and well-being.
